Reading Your Vehicle's Stock File

STOP! Before you continue, you MUST revert to the stock tune if you have been previously tuned by another tuning company. Failure to do so may lead to adverse effects caused by unplanned changed to your tune.

  1. Refer to "Setting Up Your HPTuners RTD" for instructions on how to set up and install your HPTuners RTD Dongle if you haven't already done so.

  2. Plug your USB cable into your laptop, then into the RTD Dongle. Once the lights flash and stabilize, plug it into your vehicle's OBD-II port.

  3. Open the "RTD Flasher" program.

  4. Select Help -> "Resync Interface" and follow the on-screen prompts.

  5. Select Flash -> "Read Vehicle" and follow the on-screen prompts to create a copy of your factory tune.

    1. When prompted, select "Read Entire" to copy the full tune.

  6. Save a copy of the *.rtd file to your computer.

    1. Save as "[Last Name]_[Last 7 alphanumeric characters of RTD Serial Number].rtd"

  7. Complete our "Custom Tune Request Form" and attach your rtd file to the form.
